Sheck, of Mt. Kisco, recognized for her community service at Clark University

Clark University first year Margo Sheck, of Mount Kisco, NY, was among 10 students involved with the American Red Cross–Clark University club who were recognized with a 2007-08 UniverCity Partnership Award at a ceremony on campus last month.

Armand Carriere, executive director of the Worcester UniverCity Partnership, presented awards to members of a group or club from each college or university affiliated with the Colleges of the Worcester Consortium that exhibited dedicated commitment to the community through volunteer, work study, or service learning efforts.

ARC-CU members were specifically cited for their efforts in forming a Disaster Action Team (DAT). All members underwent extensive training, and were available to respond to local emergencies such as fires.

Additionally, they have also organized first aid and CPR training for other students.

"They have already responded to a couple of calls," said group advisor Kay Bassett, "and their training has prepared them as the next generation of volunteers providing this critical service."

Sheck is a member of the Class of 2011 at Clark. She majors in biochemistry and molecular biology. In addition to her involvement in the ARC-CU, Scheck is active in Clark's Big Brother/Big Sister Program. She also is the recipient of a Traina Scholarship.

Sheck is a 2007 graduate of Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, NY. She is the daughter of Paul Sheck of Brookfield, Conn., and Lori Matles of Mount Kisco, NY.
