Clark students turn out for 7th annual "Just Do It Day"

Approximately 200 Clark University students participated in the 7th annual "Just Do It Day" on Saturday, April 4. The day is designed to encourage Clark students to make a difference by volunteering their time in the community.

This year's theme was "I Just Did It and I Liked It." Students helped out at 15 sites in the City including Stone Soup, the Boys and Girls Club, the Worcester Housing Authority, Abby's House, the Worcester Art Museum and Cascade Park. Worcester City Councilor Barbara Haller helped coordinate cleanups at two different sites in Main South and worked alongside Clark students all afternoon. Making a Difference (MAD) Scholars Jeremy Sanders '11 and Rachel Gerber '11 coordinated the day's events. The event was co-sponsored by the Community Engagement & Volunteering (CEV) Center, the Programming Co-Sponsorship Fund, the Democrats of Clark University and the Clark University Student Council.

Just Do It Day attracts roughly the same amount of community-minded students each year.

"Despite the wind and impending rain, our students were eager to participate in this annual signature event at Clark. Students enjoyed the sense of community that resulted from working alongside community members and nonprofit administrators on important projects," said Micki Davis, coordinator for the CEV Center.

Clark's CEV Center assists students, faculty and staff looking to get involved in the local community. Last year, over 900 Clark students were active in the community through service programs, internships or community based learning and research opportunities.
