Clark University’s Lene Jensen Appointed to Board of Children’s Friend
Lene Arnett Jensen, associate professor of psychology at Clark University, has been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of Children’s Friend. Her three-year term became effective February 27.
Jensen was hired by Clark University in August 2005, and spent the 2005-06 academic year as a visiting fellow at The Academy for Migration Studies in Denmark (AMID) and The Social Research Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark. She began teaching at Clark in the fall of 2006. Her courses include Developmental Psychology, Morality and Culture, and Culture and Human Development.
The professor's present research focuses on adolescents and their parents who have immigrated to the United States, specifically the ties between cultural identity and engagement with family, school and civil society.
Jensen serves as Editor-in-Chief of "New Directions for Child and Adolescent Development." She received her Ph.D. from the Committee on Human Development at the University of Chicago.
Jensen is a resident of Worcester.
Children's Friend was established in 1849 as a charity caring for orphaned, abandoned and neglected children in Worcester. Today, the services provided by Children's Friend include child and family mental health counseling, counseling as well as academic and health education for school-age mothers, and childcare for children of school-age mothers.
