Lubkin, of Hudson, receives award for her community service at Clark University

Clark University graduate student Joanna R. Lubkin, of Hudson, NH, was among 10 students involved with the American Red Cross–Clark University club who were recognized with a 2007-08 UniverCity Partnership Award at a ceremony on campus last month.

Armand Carriere, executive director of the Worcester UniverCity Partnership, presented awards to members of a group or club from each college or university affiliated with the Colleges of the Worcester Consortium that exhibited dedicated commitment to the community through volunteer, work study, or service learning efforts.

ARC-CU members were specifically cited for their efforts in forming a Disaster Action Team (DAT). All members underwent extensive training, and were available to respond to local emergencies such as fires.

Additionally, they have also organized first aid and CPR training for other students.

"They have already responded to a couple of calls," said group advisor Kay Bassett, "and their training has prepared them as the next generation of volunteers providing this critical service."

Lubkin majored in Judiac Studies at Clark. She fulfilled the requirements for her bachelor's degree in December 2007. Lubkin will graduate cum laude in May. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Public Administration through Clark’s Accelerated B.A./Master's Degree Program. On campus, Lubkin has been involved with Hillel, the Variant Dance Troupe and the Clark Concert Choir.

Lubkin is a 2003 graduate of Thoreau Home School in Nashua, NH. She is the daughter of Leslye Morrow of Little Rock, AR, and David Lubkin of Hudson, NH.
