Clark Theater presents 'As Bees in Honey Drown'

The Theater Arts program of the Visual & Performing Arts Department at Clark University will present "As Bees in Honey Drown," a comical satire by Douglas Carter Beane that follows artists whose ambitions search for fame makes them easy marks for con artists. Herringer to complete the research she started in Turkey in a chemistry lab at Clark

Susan N. Herringer of Farmingdale, New York, has been back in the U.S. since August 15; however, she still "has her eye" on the ruins of a temple in Turkey. Herringer spends roughly five hours a week in a chemistry lab at Clark, continuing the research she started this summer for the Antioch ad Cragum Archaeological Research Project.

Residence hall achieves top marks for sustainable components

The Blackstone Hall student residence at Clark University has been awarded the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), making it one of fewer than 10 LEED-certified residence halls in Massachusetts, and the first in the city of Worcester.

Summer stipend supports student's work as community health educator

Clark University first-year student Jesse Mattleman, of Belmont, is interning this summer at Primeros Pasos, a non-government organization (NGO) based in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, that provides free healthcare and health education to residents through its walk-in clinic and community education programs. Mattleman's experience was made possible by a summer internship stipend through Clark's Holocaust and Genocide Studies program.

Danforth, of Springfield, is conducting a full-time internship at the Hatikvah Holocaust Education Center in Springfield, where she is cataloging artifacts so the Center can pursue museum accreditation. Danforth's internship was made possible by a summer internship stipend from Clark's Holocaust and Genocide Studies program.

Clark University recognizes the late Peter Arthur with the Outstanding Secondary Educator Award

The late Peter G. Arthur was recognized with this year's Outstanding Secondary Educator Award from the Clark University Alumni Association on Sunday, May 18. The award recognizes secondary-school teachers for the critical role they play in preparing students for higher education. It is presented at Honors Convocation, held just prior to Commencement every year. Peter's mother, Cecilia Arthur, and Peter Anderson, principal of Andover High School, accepted the award on Peter's behalf.

Clark U Professor Sarkis awarded AT&T Industrial Ecology Faculty Fellowship

Joseph Sarkis, Clark University Professor of Operations and Environmental Management, Graduate School of Management, was named an AT&T Faculty Fellow in Industrial Ecology, one of three to be named among U.S. college faculty. His fellowship is in cooperation with colleagues at Oregon State University and Green Mountain College. The Fellowship will allow his interdisciplinary team to study information and communications technology product streams and gaining business value within China's "Circular Economy" regulatory policy framework.

Eight Clark University undergraduates each made powerful presentations in the fourth annual Hervey Ross Oratorical Contest, held April 8 in the Little Center Theatre. The contest fosters the art of public speaking and oratory and is open to all Clark students. The theme of this year’s contest was "Equality, Justice, Freedom." The eight finalists were judged on their oratory skills as well as speech interpretation.
