International Development, Community and Environment:
Visiting Assistant Professor

The Environmental Science and Policy (ES&P) Program in the Department of International Development, Community and Environment (IDCE) at Clark University seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor with expertise in the area of energy, climate and sustainability. Since the 1970s ES&P has worked to strengthen the role of science in decision making and has been a pioneer of an approach that integrates an engaged understanding of social change with scientific and technological innovation. IDCE is an exciting trans-disciplinary department whose faculty work individually and jointly to promote positive change in communities and the environment. IDCE is developing an exciting portfolio of trans-disciplinary signatures that include: public health innovation; refugees and climate change; youth and workforce development; urban sustainability (multi-sectoral) and climate resilience. IDCE offers four Masters-level programs – ES&P (MS), Geographic Information Science for Development and Environment (MS in GISDE), Community Development and Planning (MA in CDP) and International Development and Social Change (MA in IDSC), as well as two dual degrees (MBA/MS-ES&P, MBA/MA-CDP), and two undergraduate majors (ES&P, IDSC). The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work across academic disciplines, and thrive in a diverse, creative setting. She/he will possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent), or be ABD, have evidence of teaching success, and be eager to mentor MS students in their professional development and research projects. The position is for one year starting in Fall 2014, with the possibility of extension beyond one year.
