About Blackstone Hall
Blackstone Hall is our premier residence facility which opened for the

Sophomore and First Year students are not permitted to live in Blackstone Hall.
It is designed to offer independent living accommodations with apartment style
living options ranging for groups of 4 or 6 students. Three apartment
configurations are available. Six person units feature two double and two single
rooms. Four person units are available with four single rooms or two singles
rooms and one double room. Each apartment features a full kitchen with
dishwasher, stove, oven*, refrigerator, over range microwaves* and extensive
cabinetry including an island with breakfast bar*. *ADA accessible units feature
wall ovens, standard microwaves, and omit the island and instead have a larger
table. In addition, each unit shares a living room and bathroom space. See the
unit layouts
located here for details. Additional features of Blackstone Hall include:
Wired and Wireless internet access, phone service, air conditioning, extensive
study and lounge space, elevator service, fourth floor outdoor patio, laundry
room with computer stations and 42” plasma television, and a 50” plasma

fully furnished with comfortable and high quality furnishings. For more details,
visit the
Blackstone Hall project site.
Blackstone Hall offers its residents continuous housing from August through
May. Students are not required to vacate Blackstone Hall during winter break.
There is no additional cost for living in Blackstone Hall during the winter
break. Students who wish to do so may also sign a 3 month summer housing
contract which will allow students to reside in Blackstone Hall during the
summer. When possible, RLH will assign students to the same room as their 2008
assignment, but this may not be possible if consolidation is required for safety
or summer conferencing purposes. Pricing for Summer Housing has not been set at
this time, and student do not need to commit to summer housing until after
Housing Lottery. Note that pricing for Blackstone Hall differs between the fall
and spring semester as the length of stay during these periods differs due to
winter break. There is no refund for students who choose not to stay during the
break periods. Students who graduate from Clark in December must move out of
Blackstone Hall on December 20, 2008. Students traveling abroad may stay until
January 5, 2009. Students moving to Blackstone Hall for the Spring Semester will
move in on January 11, 2009.
Blackstone Hall Selection
Blackstone Hall Selection will take place on Monday, April 7th, at 6:00PM in
Tilton Hall.. You may register for Blackstone Hall Selection through the
My Lottery online
registration tool. My Lottery will ask you to indicate if you plan
to apply for Blackstone Hall, although you will be able to participate in other
Housing Lottery processes if you are unable to secure a space in Blackstone
Hall.
Blackstone Hall Selection will be priority based, meaning that groups of
Seniors/5th Year Students will have preference over groups with Juniors.
Like in other lottery processes, groups will use the best lottery number to
select their space. The difference between Blackstone Hall and other
Housing Lottery processed is that groups will be called by priority group over
lottery number. Observe the following example.
- Student A is a Senior with Lottery Number 1... the best number you can
have.
- Student B is a Senior with Lottery Number 100
- Student C is a Senior with Lottery Number 200
- Student D is a Junior with Lottery Number 300
Suppose students A & D form a group, and students B & C form a group.
During regular Housing Lottery, students A & D will have top pick because they
will use Student A's lottery number... 1. At Blackstone Hall Selection,
students B & C will pick before students A & D because they are both Seniors.
There are 4 priority groups in which student groups can fall.
- Priority Level 1 consists of groups made up entirely of Seniors/5th Year
Students.
- Priority Level 2 consists of groups made up a mix of Seniors/5th Year
Students and Juniors, where the number of Seniors/5th Years is equal to or
greater than the number of Juniors.
- Priority Level 3 consists of groups made up a mix of Seniors/5th Year
Students and Juniors, where the number of Seniors/5th Years is less than
the number of Juniors.
- Priority Level 4 consists of groups made up entirely of Juniors.
As stated, all groups which qualify in Priority Level 1 will select housing
before groups in Priority Level 2. All groups which qualify in Priority
Level 2 will select housing before groups in Priority Level 3, and so on.
