First-Year and Transfer Students

Living in one of our residence halls as a first-year or transfer student is a key part of your Clark experience. But, there’s a lot to know, like how to apply for housing and plan for your arrival in August.

Applying for housing

Find your application to apply to live in one of Clark’s residence halls in your ClarkYOU portal. Once you log in, click the menu item Housing and Dining Self-Service and follow the instructions to submit your form.

Arriving on campus

First-year and transfer student residence halls open at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24. Students moving in on that date should enter campus via Woodland Street from Main Street. Once on Woodland Street, staff will be on hand to direct you to your residence hall. Please have your hall name and room number handy. For more information, see our Week One arrival schedule and information.

When you arrive at your hall, our Peer Assistants and Resident Advisers will welcome you, provide your room key and then help unload your belongings from your car into bins and move it to your room.

Early arrival

If you live more than 500 miles from campus…

First-year students who live 500 or more miles from Clark who are not registered in a pre-orientation program can request permission to arrive on campus a day early, on Wednesday, Aug. 23. To do so, complete an early arrival application in the Housing and Dining Self-Service portal on ClarkYOU by Aug. 2. Requests received after that date will result in a late application fee.

On that day, pick up your key at the Residential Life and Housing Office at 142 Woodland Street. If you plan to arrive after 5 p.m., please contact us as soon as possible to make arrangements.

If you’re participating in an early orientation program…

If you’re registered for Connections, ACE, International Orientation, or another program, contact your program to determine your arrival date and time.

Planning ahead

For students who need to plan for winter break, note that the residence halls close at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 20 and reopen for the spring semester at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2018. If you need to leave late or arrive early, you can request a contract extension for up to 72 hours. The fee is $25 per day, if requested more than 2 weeks in advance. If your request is received after the deadline, it may be denied or you may be charged a late fee. Residence halls close at noon on May 9, 2018 for all non-graduating students. Halls close on May 21,2018 at noon for graduating students.

Off-campus accommodations

See our accommodations page for hotels in the Worcester area if you need to arrive before your scheduled date, or need lodging for family or friends.
