Do what you were born to do...
In order to set goals, it is important to reflect on your interests and skills. This is an
important step that can reveal career fields to explore and the skills to develop in preparation.
Ask yourself these questions and record your answers:
- What topics do you enjoy reading about?
- What are your favorite hobbies/pastimes?
- What do you like to discuss with friends?
- What are your favorite subjects?
- If you ran the world, what changes would you make?
- What are your favorite toys?
- Who do you most admire and why?
- What tasks have brought you the most success?
Examine your answers. Do you see a pattern developing? What are your consistent interests?
Complete the following statements:
- I am mainly interested in...
- I believe most in...
- I most value...
- For a good life, I feel I need...
- I can do the following well...
Now consider whether your goals/ideals for the future “tie-in” with these five statements.

Exploring Majors:
As part of CCEP, students are introduced to a variety of the academic majors available at
Clark. We do this to provide students an opportunity to learn more about an area of interest and
to learn about programs they may not have considered before.
Consider...
Visual and Performing Arts
You are a creative non-conformist. You see beauty in ordinary places. You dare to dream, and
want to share your talents with others. The Visual and Performing Arts major at Clark is a
broad, multi-faceted major. Students may study Art History, Studio Art, Music, Screen Studies
and Theatre Arts.
Students may delve into the criticism, history, philosophy or theory of these art forms, or
may pursue them creatively.
Possible Careers:
- Architect
- Interior Designer
- Community Theatre Director
- Medical and Scientific Illustrator
- Director of an Art Gallery or Museum
- Arts Educator (possible locations include college, high school, museums, summer camps, community centers, prisons).
History
Do you love learning? Are you passionate about the battles of WWII, the Industrial
Revolution, the Renaissance, Christopher Columbus, and Rome’s legions? A History major offers
the student a firsthand glimpse into the events, traditions and cultures that society is built
upon. The History major at Clark requires a choice of specializations in United States,
European or global History. Students can also work on concentrations in Asian studies,
Holocaust studies, or Women’s Studies. History majors enjoy a variety of career opportunities
including education, finance, business and librarianship.

- Genealogist
- Market Analyst
- Museum Curator
- Library and Information Specialist
- Financial Assistant
- Educator both inside and out of the classroom (museums, camps, galleries, Old Sturbridge Village, for example).
INTERNSHIP FOR CREDIT DEADLINE: REMINDER!
If you're interested in doing an internship to complement your Spring '07 academics, now is
the time to research and apply for the perfect fit. Once you have obtained an internship, the final
deadline to apply for credit is one week before the add/drop deadline. For more information

INTERESTED IN LAW SCHOOL?
If you're considering law school make an appointment with Director of Career
Services, David McDonough, to discuss your plans. Career Services works closely with the Clark
Student Prelaw Society, and together sponsor several prelaw events throughout the year.
To join the Prelaw Society, send a note to campus Box B-42, including your full name, class, box
number, and phone number, and ask to be placed on the membership list.
