The Colleges of Worcester Consortium and the Shrewsbury Street Merchants' Association are partnering up again for the second annual Shrewsbury Street College Shuffle on Saturday, September 6, 2008. This event is based upon the widely successful Taste of Shrewsbury Street which is held in June every year. The College Shuffle will be EXCLUSIVELY for college students and the college community (including faculty, staff, and families).
This event is one of the new traditions for all Worcester-area college students. Last year's Shuffle was a great success with 1500 participants enjoying great food from over 20 restaurants!
DETAILS
The schedule for the day includes the traditional Shrewsbury Street "shuffle" from 12-3 p.m., with food tastings from over 20 participating locales on Shrewsbury Street, commonly known as Restaurant Row. During the shuffle, there will be college groups (such as Assumption s Offbeats, AMC s Jazz Ensemble, WPI Jazz Ensemble Clark s Hip Hop Collabo & the Holy Cross Ballroom Dance Club) entertaining you along the street. A Cupcake Eating contest at 1 p.m. hosted by Sweet, demos by other retail businesses on the Street, fun sponsors, free giveaways, and much more will round out the afternoon.
Shuffle to the Hanover
Additionally, after 3 p.m. buses will shuffle students from Shrewsbury Street to the newly restored Hanover Theater on Main Street in Worcester for the comedy theatrics of the Boston-based Improv Asylum. Tickets are $10 extra and must be purchased with proper student identification from the Office of Student Activities at each college campus or at the Hanover Box Office.
Free Transportation
Free transportation will be provided throughout the day, from each campus, to Shrewsbury Street and the Hanover Theater, and back to each campus. Check with your Student Activities Office for more information and button sales.
