Get involved with this year's summer reading!

As the summer reaches its midway point, we hope that you are finding the respite and relaxation that you deserve.  Whether you are vacationing in some exotic location, working an interesting (and perhaps necessary) summer job, or just enjoying some time outside of the academic arena, we wanted to take a second to again highlight the Class of 2012 summer reading.  The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy by Dr. Pietra Rivoli is an important book that examines the complicated and fragile intersections that make up the global economy.

Members of the Class of 2012 have been sent a copy of the text as part of their introduction and orientation to their academic careers at Clark University.  First-year and new Clark students will be examining and discussing the book during their Week One experiences.  We also hope that current Clark students will take the time to check out the summer reading.  We think this is an important book that captures the essence of Clark?s philosophy to challenge convention and change our world.

In conjunction with the Class of 2012 summer reading, we have launched a series of web pages to help complement the reading.  We encourage you to visit the site to learn more about the author and read reviews of The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy.  In addition, we are very excited to introduce an exciting component to this year's summer reading; a direct chat blog with the author, Dr. Pietra Rivoli.  Be a part of the dialogue TODAY.  Visit https://www.clarku.edu/classof2012/summerreading/index.cfm to learn more and post your question.

Campus Digest is issued to students through Clark e-mail once a week on Thursdays. The deadlines to submit information for each issue will be Wednesday by 5:00pm. Submissions should be sent in a word processing text document attachment or typed into the body of the e-mail; graphic documents or PDFs will not be accepted. However, a low-resolution JPEG photo may be submitted with the text for consideration.

  • To highlight an upcoming Clark event, please submit information to studentdigest@clarku.edu. Events are posted to Clark's online calendar and promoted through Student Digest.
  • To post an item on the Marketplace, e-mail studentdigest@clarku.edu with the name of the item, description, asking price, and contact information so interested parties can reach you (name, number, e-mail). Please type "Marketplace" in the subject line of the e-mail.
