Professional & Academic Experience

Will O’Brien is a retired business executive, change agent, consultant, attorney and adjunct professor of management committed to educating future leaders to address environmental, economic and social challenges. Since retirement from the Information Technology industry, he has been teaching management courses to undergraduate and graduate students at Bentley University, Suffolk University and Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Recently, O’Brien created a Business Sustainability course as part of Bentley’s MBA program, with the primary objective of developing environmental stewardship as a capability for students. As part of the course, student teams created/delivered Sustainability Plans for local non-profits, municipalities and small businesses. MA Maritime students earning their MS degree in Facilities Management have also experienced the Business Sustainability course. As a member of Bentley’s Sustainability & Energy Taskforce and O’Brien contributed to the development of Bentley’s Sustainability Plan focused on fulfillment of the university’s commitment to carbon neutrality.

Under O’Brien’s direction, during 2008, sustainability plans were completed and presented by students to: American History Textile Museum, Ben Franklin Institute of Technology, Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, City of Boston, Edinburg Center, Highlands Center at Cape Cod National Seashore, Mother Caroline Academy, Olin College of Engineering. In 2009, students delivered plans to: Enterasys Secure Networks, IPA Blackstone, LEX-AIRE, Marine Biological Laboratory, National Power, Sovereign Bank and VNA Care Network & Hospice.
