Survey of Earned Doctorates (SED) Information

The Survey of Earned Doctorates (SED) is a federal survey, conducted by the National Opinion Research Center for the National Science Foundation and other federal agencies. The survey collects data which serves policy makers at the federal, state and local levels. The information you provide is confidential and is protected under the NSF Act and the Privacy Act of 1974. The survey data are report only in aggregate form or in a manner that does not identify information about any individual.

  1. Register for the Survey of Earned Doctorates »
  2. The URL, PIN and password information will be e-mailed to you shortly after you register. Check your junk mail if you do not receive in in a reasonable timeframe in case your e-mail filter has treated the message as spam.
  3. Complete the SED questionnaire. Be sure to press Submit in order to move through the last three screens (Email confirmation, Certificate of Completion, and Thank you). An email will be sent from Center informing the Graduate School Office that you have completed the SED.
