Course Description

The seminar reviews contemporary literature on globalization, and includes both theoretical and empirical work.  Emphasis is given to work that are of particular relevance to the discipline of geography.  The course demands active class participation (50% of grade), and requires weekly report addressing the theme of the course (50% of grade).

Students are expected to have some basic knowledge of economic geography theories.  Students are expected to do the required readings listed in the syllabus prior to attending the seminar and are urged to bring up opposing points of view in class.  A portion of the readings may be made available at the mezzanine.  Some of the readings can be skimmed, others should be read with care.  Guidance on this will be provided as the semester proceeds.
