Professor Walker received a B.F.A. from the California College of Arts and an M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990. She has been at Clark since 1998.

Current Teaching and Creative Work

Professor Walker is an abstract painter whose emphasis is on creating visual filters for virtual spaces. She has received the Hayden Junior Faculty Fellowship for Teaching and Scholarship from Clark, residencies at: the MacDowell Colony, the Banff Centre, the American Academy in Rome, and the Ucross Foundation. She is the 2005 winner of the Rappappot Prize, has received an NEA grant, a Berkshire-Taconic grant an E.D. Foundation grant as well as a three- year resident fellowship in painting at the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts in Miami, FL.
