DEPRESSION IN LOW-INCOME URBAN CHILDREN

Despite considerable advances in our understanding of depression in children, the majority of this research has focused on Caucasian, middle-class children. Although some researchers have begun to examine depression in the complicated contexts of race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and urban environments, there are still considerable gaps in our understanding of depression from these populations.

In this research project, we are attempting to better understand the development of depression in children from low-income and urban backgrounds, many of whom are racial/ethnic minorities.
