Community Engagement and Volunteering Center (CEV)Located in Corner House, the CEV Center helps students, faculty and staff get involved with the Worcester community. The CEV staff plan awareness and service events for the Clark community and advise service-related student groups. The CEV Center also hosts a Community Engagement fair each fall with representatives from local agencies and student service groups. Stop by the office or visit the Web site for information about events and volunteer opportunities. Office hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Student-Directed Service GroupsThere are many service groups at Clark—American Red Cross, All Kinds of Girls (AKOG), and the Community Action, Reform, and Education Initiative (CARE) are all examples of Clarkies working with the community to make a difference. To get a complete list of student organizations visit the Student Leadership & Programming website or attend the CEV Center Community Engagement Fair in the fall semester. Community-Based LearningAnother way to get involved in the neighborhood is by taking community-based learning classes, in which students learn by active participation in service to the community. Look in the academic catalog-www.clarku.edu/catalog-for classes which offer this teaching style, because it can be a great alternative to traditional classroom learning. Community Service Federal Work-StudyClark offers work-study positions in the community. If you would like to work at a neighborhood organization for your work-study, contact Darlene Cortes at x7614.
