Research

Goddard Library at Clark University

National Women's Studies Association supports and promotes feminist/womanist teaching, learning, research, and professional and community service at the pre-K through post-secondary levels and serves as a locus of information about the inter-disciplinary field of Women's Studies for those outside the profession. NWSA publishes a newsletter NWSAction and other publications  

Meridians is a new, peer-reviewed, feminist, interdisciplinary journal whose goal is to provide a forum for the finest scholarship and creative work by and about women of color in U.S. and international contexts.

The Feminist Theory Web site provides research materials and information for students, activists, and scholars interested in women's conditions and struggles around the world. The goals of this website are: 1) to encourage a wide range of research into feminist theory, and 2) to encourage dialogue between women (and men) from different countries around the world.

FEMSPEC is an interdisciplinary feminist journal dedicated to critical and creative works in the realms of science fiction, fantasy, magical realm, surrealism, myth, folklore, and other supernatural genres.

Feminist Collections A Quarterly of Women's Studies Resources contains news of the latest print and audiovisual resources for research and teaching in women's studies.

The National Council for Research on Women, founded in 1981, is a working alliance of 92 women's research and policy centers, more than 3,000 affiliates and a network of over 200 international centers. NCRW's mission is to enhance the connections among research, policy analysis, advocacy, and innovative programming on behalf of women and girls.

International Feminist Journal of Politics is a unique cross-cultural and international forum to foster debate and dialogue at the intersection of international relations, politics and women's studies.

Signs. Founded in 1975, Signs is recognized as the leading international journal in women's studies. Signs publishes articles from a wide range of disciplines in a variety of voices—articles engaging gender, race, culture, class, sexuality, and / or nation. The focus of essays ranges from cross-disciplinary theorizing and methodologies to specific disciplinary issues, framed to enter conversations of interest across disciplines.

Activism

The Feminist Majority Foundation is a cutting edge organization dedicated to women's equality, reproductive health, and non-violence. In all spheres, FMF utilizes research and action to empower women economically, socially, and politically. Our organization believes that feminists - both women and men, girls and boys - are the majority, but this majority must be empowered.

Feminist International Radio Endeavor FIRE Internet Radio - FIRE is the first women´s Internet radio and broadcasts live webcasts by, and about, women around global issues. Tune in daily or check the archives for specific topics. FIRE is simulcast in both Spanish and English.

GABNet works on issues arising from US policy decisions which impact negatively on women and children of the Philippines. GABNet has launched educational campaigns on militarism and prostitution, labor export and the sex trade, and the "mail- order bride" industry. They work with GABRIELA Philippines, the country' s largest and most militant women's alliance.

Choices is the largest campus network of pro choice students and is part of the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance.

About-Face is a media literacy organization focused on the impact mass media has on the physical, mental and emotional well being of women and girls. Through practical and activist methods we challenge our culture's overemphasis on physical appearance. By encouraging critical thinking about the media, and personal empowerment, About-Face works to engender positive body-esteem in girls and women of all ages, sizes, races and backgrounds. About-Face provides a place where all women count, from the tiniest among us to the very largest.

The National Organization for Women has 500,000 contributing members and 550 chapters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Since its founding in 1966, NOW's goal has been "to take action" to bring about equality for all women. Both the actions NOW takes and its position on the issues are often unorthodox, uncompromising and ahead of their time.

For over thirty years, the National Abortion Rights Action League has been the political arm of the pro-choice movement and a strong advocate of reproductive freedom and choice. NARAL's mission is to protect and preserve the right to choose while promoting policies and programs that improve women's health and make abortion less necessary. NARAL works to educate Americans and officeholders about reproductive rights and health issues and elect pro-choice candidates at all levels of government.

Established in 1990, Women of Color Resource Center is a non-profit education, community action, and resource center working on social justice issues that affect women of color. WCRC develops and distributes education and information resources about women of color that support, sustain, and advance social justice movements.

Even though President G. W. Bush's administration has closed down this office, you may still obtain archived information from this site. The President's Interagency Council on Women is charged with coordinating the implementation of the Platform for Action adopted at Beijing, including the U.S. commitments announced there. It also develops related initiatives to further women's progress and engages in outreach and public education to support the successful implementation of the Conference agreements.
