Dr. Rivera received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Yale University in 2001, and his A.M. and Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2004 and 2008, respectively. He has been at Clark since 2012.

Dr. Rivera is currently writing a book on the relationship between non-normative sexualities and non-monolingual linguistic practices in contemporary Latin American literature. His research interests include the study of gender and sexuality, feminism, psychoanalysis, technologies of the body, Latin American critical thought, and race. He teaches courses in the Spanish language, as well as advanced undergraduate courses on Latin American literature and culture from all periods. These courses include representations of Latin American youth, of gay, lesbian and transgender individuals, and of technologies of body modification.;
