The Urban Development and Social Change (UDSC) Program offers a paid UDSC summer internship through a generous endowment by Clark alumni Lois and Robert Green. Students apply in the spring and indicate whether they seek an internship in local government, or with a local non-profit agency addressing urban issues in Worcester. Interns have most frequently worked with our local District Four City Councilor, but other governmental or non-governmental placements are also possible, depending on the student’s interests. The stipend for the internship is $2,800 for six weeks of full time work, or for part time work over a longer period of time.
From time to time, UDSC has also offered Fellowships to Clark undergraduate students to work on an applied research project in Worcester as part of an existing research program. These are usually funded by faculty research grants; availability varies. Contact the UDSC program in February each year for more information.
The Lois and Robert Green Internship, and the UDSC Research Fellowship program, together provide UDSC Fellows the opportunity to learn first-hand about current issues of concern in Worcester and many other cities.
