After a sojourn of six years teaching at Clark University in the Environment, Technology and Society program and as a research associate at the Center for Technology, Environment, and Development, Dr. Renn returned to his native Germany. He currently serves as Managing Director and Professor in the Institute of Social Science at the University of Stuttgart. His professional interests include sociology of technology and the environment; risk regulation, risk management, risk communication; public participation; technology assessment and foresight; modernization and attitudes to technology; and public understanding of science. He is the author or co-author of 14 published monographs; editor or co-editor of 13 edited volumes; co-author of 10 national reports for federal and/or state governments; and has contributed more than 300 articles to journals, proceedings, and edited books.
