Marsh Distinguished Lecture Series - November 1998Kai N. Lee
Professor of Environmental Studies, Williams College, Williamstown, MA Dr. Lee's book, Compass and Gyroscope: Integrating Science and Politics for the Environment, was published in 1993. Its ideas have been influential in the planning of adaptive management areas in the forestlands of the Pacific Northwest, as well as the management of Pacific salmon. Dr. Lee is co-author of two other books: Electric Power and the Future of the Pacific Northwest and Sub-Seabed Disposal of High-Level Nuclear Waste: An Assesment of Policy Issues for the United States. Dr. Lee serves on the National Research Council's Board of Sustainable Development, where he is a member of the executive committee. He also serves as a member of the Council's Commission of Geosciences, Environment, and Resources. He is a member of the editorial boards of Ecosystems and Policy Sciences. |
