Dr. Lambin is the current chair of the Land-Use and Land-Cover Change (LUCC) programme of the International Geosphere-Biosphere programme (IGBP) and International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change (IHDP). His research interests include the monitoring of land-cover changes and biomass burning by remote sensing, and the modelling of land-use changes and their ecological impacts. The geographic focus of his research are the tropical regions, mostly in Africa. He has published several papers in leading scientific journals in remote sensing, geography and environmental sciences.
