Jason Grumet was appointed Executive Director of the National Commission on Energy Policy in January, 2002. The National Commission on Energy Policy is a non-profit, bipartisan group of leading energy experts dedicated to developing a long-term U.S. Energy Policy to promote National Security, Economic Prosperity, and Environmental Safety and Health. The Commission will release its final recommendations in early 2005.

Prior to joining the Commission, Mr. Grumet served as Executive Director of Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM). During his seven-year tenure at NESCAUM, he was responsible for developing policy positions on emerging air quality issues and formulating and advocating for national legislative proposals. Mr. Grumet led several prominent regional initiatives including Northeast State efforts to address the long-range transport from coal-fired utilities and the adoption of zero-emission vehicle sales mandates in the Northeast. Under his leadership, NESCAUM established a significant policy presence in Washington, DC with Congress and the Executive Branch. Prior to joining NESCAUM, he worked on transportation and air pollution issues at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Mr. Grumet holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Brown University and a J.D. from Harvard University
