Dr. Larrieux earned a bachelor's degree (1999) in Film Studies at Wesleyan University and her master's (2001) and doctorate (2007) in American Civilization at Brown University. She has been at Clark since 2007.
Current Research and Teaching
Dr. Larrieux's teaching and research areas include film genre, television, cultural theory, cinema history, theories of authorship, the language of media and visuality, as well as cinematic narrative form and style, and issues of ideology and representation. She is also interested in Brazilian cinema and culture. Her current research uses the science fiction film to assess the relationship between imagined representations of the future and historical interpretations of racial discourses and social relations in the United States, and other pluralistic societies.
