Arturo Arevalo (IDSC '2013)
Arturo Arevalo (USA) received dual degrees in Sociology and Women´s & Gender Studies from UMass Boston. His first research undertaking into gender scholarship has confirmed his interest for gender construction in marginalized areas. His internship as teaching assistant at The Mauricio Gastón Institute for Latino Community Development and Public Policy has given him tools of inter-disciplinary interests such as working for the Statewide Latino Public Policy Conference. He is able to engage with many community leaders, policy makers, and practitioners in regional meetings across Massachusetts on the status of Latinos. He is dedicated to the development of community leadership by providing opportunities for academic and professional success. Through research and public policy training he has been empowered to be an informed agent of social change.
