Maya Pilgrim (IDSC '2013)

Maya Pilgrim (USA) received her B.A. in psychology with a minor in Spanish from Berry College. She worked in social work for the state of Texas and as a case manager for a Women's Crisis Center before joining the Peace Corps. She volunteered in Honduras for the maternal/child survival and HIV prevention program. She continued to work with youth and families upon returning to the states focusing on comprehensive sexual health education. She later worked in Thailand as a caseworker for refugees applying for US resettlement. She has also lived in Japan, Spain, and the Philippines. She has most recently been teaching English to immigrants while volunteering for local non-profits in the areas of refugee resettlement, immigration, and human trafficking. Her interests include gender issues, ending gender-based violence, human trafficking, and education.
