Alex Carnes (GISDE '2011)

Alex Carnes (USA) recently graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in geography. Recently, he has worked with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to map inundation zones in the state of New York in the event of 1-4 foot sea level rise as well as aid in the generation of new datasets. Prior to this, he has interned at TRC Environmental Corporation, helped promote UConn’s Map and Geographic Information Center (MAGIC), and used GIS to visualize climate change in the Northeast U.S. over the past 50 years through an independent study. Carnes’s main research interests are analyzing the effect of climate change on our environment and its associated impacts to development.
