Douglas Sands (GISDE '2013)

Douglas Sands (USA) graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy and Geography from the University of Connecticut in 2010. While aUConn student, he was a cofounder of an organization which focused leadership development in at risk high school students at public schools through workshops and mentoring. He also workedat the University of Connecticut Library’s Map and Geographic Information Center and for the Connecticut State Data Center (CtSDC) where he helped with transition to a new CtSDC website. After graduation, Doug worked as a Research Specialist for theUConn Department of Geography and later as a GIS Analyst for the Massachusetts Broadband Institute. Academically, Doug hopes to explore ways to use GIS to integrate information from a wide variety of disciplines.
