I entered Clark University

I entered Clark University's Environmental Science and Policy (ES&P) Master's
program as a Wildlife Biologist. I wanted to move forward in my career but
lacked the environmental policy skills necessary to advance in the field.

ES&P, embedded in the IDCE department, provided me with the applied knowledge to
address environmental issues from a practical standpoint, the theoretical
background to understand policy development, and the freedom to explore my own
interests. My research focused on urban wildlife issues and upon completion of
the program I was hired as Director of the Montana Wildlife Center, a top-level
management position. As Director, it was paramount that I exercise extensive
knowledge of environmental policies while being able to address community
concerns on a case-by-case basis. ES&P gave me the skills to do both.

I left the Montana Wildlife Center to pursue a Ph.D. at Rutgers University. My
focus is still on wildlife conservation issues and the education I received from
Clark University continues to serve as a priceless foundation for my current
research. I have stayed in contact with my professors and tend to meet my "Clarkie"
colleagues all over the globe.
