1. Please describe your present professional position? Please include the URL
of your organization.
I am currently the GIS researcher for the
Center for Conservation Medicine at the Tufts
Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton, MA. My primary
duties at Tufts are applying GIS, Remote Sensing, and Environmental Modeling to
support our Seabird Ecological
Assessment Network (SEANET), which uses environmental and biological data to
assess coastal ecological health. In addition to SEANET, I provide GIS
assistance to both student and faculty research that ranges from projects based
in Massachusetts to Asian Elephants in Nepal.
2. How did the GISDE program at Clark University help to prepare you?
The GISDE program at Clark University facilitated in combining my background in
wildlife conservation and international work as a Peace Corps volunteer with
current GIS technologies, essentially preparing me for my career goal in
Conservation GIS.
3. Why should prospective students enroll in the GISDE program at Clark
University?
The main advantage of the GISDE program is providing an interdisciplinary
approach to GIS, but also allowing for an individual to focus on specific fields
of research.
4. What was the topic of your research while at Clark University?
Thesis Topic: Mapping Florida Dry Prairie Vegetation using a Decision Tree
Classifier with Spectral and Environmental Variables.
