From Copenhagen to Clark
Mette Fog Olwig (Class of 2005) is putting her extensive international experience into practice in her double majors (Geography and ID). From Copenhagen, Denmark, Mette has also lived in the Caribbean (St. Kitts-Nevis and the US Virgin Islands), Sweden, England and Norway. She's interested in sustainable consumption and for her honors thesis is trying to figure out if ethical labeling is a good way for Western consumers to support sustainable development in the Third World.

Mette holds a Presidential Scholarship and in 2003 received the Strabo Award in Geography. She's also a member of Gamma Theta Upsilon (the Geography honor society) and Phi Beta Kappa. She presented a poster on her work at the Centennial meeting of the Association of American Geographers in Philadelphia in April 2004 and has written a report on sustainable consumption for the Danish Consumer Council. In addition to all this, Mette is an accomplished violinist and violist.
