Florencia is a Geographer who specializes in Conservation Biology, GIS, Remote Sensing and Landscape Ecology. Her research interests lie in the application of geospatial analysis and satellite remote sensing to evaluate changes in the earth system, and to assess their effect on ecosystems and biodiversity. She earned a B.Sc./M.Sc. equivalent (Licenciatura) in Biology from Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, Argentina, where she worked in the field of Geoecology; and an M.A. and Ph.D in Geography from Clark University. Recent research has focused on the impact of land cover change on biodiversity in the Bolivian Amazon as well as the analysis of biodiversity offsets in Panama and the Dominican Republic.
