| Ken Rait '85 |
Ken Rait has been called "one of the most effective environmental activists over the last decade."
In 2001, Ken was the subject of a ClarkNews article that highlighed his work as as a lobbyist for the U.S. Forest Service Roadless Policy, signed in January 2001. Ken wrote us that geography "opened [his] eyes to the natural world...and the impacts of development." Clark and geography "gave me a well-rounded...background that has really enhanced my capacity as a lobbyist." Ken completed an M.A. at Clark in Environment, Technology and Society in 1985. His career as an environmental activist began immediately with his first position as conservation director for the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, and he later served in a similar position with the Oregon National Resources Council. He was director for the Heritage Forests Campaign and the Campaign for America's Wilderness. Ken is currently overseeing wilderness campaign spending by the Pew Charitable Trust. |
