"I particularly value the mapping skills that I learned." writes Elizabeth about her time at Clark. "I learned very well how to communicate information in the form of a map." Maps are important tools in Elizabeth's work, both for analyzing spatial information and for presenting that information to other planners and the public. After completing a master's degree in city planning, she worked as a transportation planner at the Nantucket Planning and Economic Development Commission. She is currently serving as Senior Transportation Planner for the Franklin County Regional Council of Governments in Greenfield, Massachusetts. In addition to mapping skills, Elizabeth values the preparation in writing and critical thinking that she received at Clark. "I write all the time...My job requires considering problems and issues from many perspectives to come up with solutions for people with varying backgrounds. There is never one answer that satisfies everyone and often the solution that works comes about after many alternatives have been considered." |
