Brief Biography
Aimee Sands teaches expository writing at Clark. She is a freelance editor and independent documentary producter/writer, recently finished work on a new film entitled What Makes me White? She has received a total of 20 awards for her work, including an Emmy, a Peabody Award, and a San Francisco Film Festival Golden Gate Award. Her op-ed essay on segregation in the North appeared in the Boston Sunday Globe.
Aimee's television credits include Africans in America, the landmark WGBH/PBS series on America's journey through slavery, and We Are Family, a WGBH/PBS documentary on life in lesbian and gay families. She has also produced in-depth news and documentaries for NPR's All Things Considered and Morning Edition.
Ms. Sands holds an MFA from Bennington College Writing Seminars. Her poems have appeared in Poetry Ireland, Beloit Poetry Journal, Lyric Poetry Review, and Salamander. She is the co-director of the Brookline Poetry Series.
