Poker Chip Study Results
HomeAfter collecting the data from the population site, correlations were sought between different species and against their distribution along the transect.  As can be seen in the graphs and data below some conclusions could be drawn.

Left Side Band Transect
The graph to the right shows the distribution of the poker chip species on the left side study site.  Individuals were counted as we moved away from the building each meter along the transect.  As can be seen the white poker chip species was concentrated primarily near the building and there was a strong correlation between the red and blue species.
Rigth Side Band Transect
The graph to the right shows the distribution of the poker chip population on the second study site.  As can be seen there is a much larger population size and wider distribution of the four poker chip species in this study area than in the left side study area.  Also, there is a much stronger association between the red and blue poker chip species at this study site than in the left side study area.  There is also a more even distribution of the white poker chip species in this study area indicating that the habitat may be different and they are able to survive better.
Association Between Red and Blue Poker Chips
After running an ANOVA data analysis on the red and blue poker chip species in the right side band transect, it was found that there was not a significant correlation between them.  The ANOVA (F1,38=1.9, p=0.18) shows that the association between these two species is not a significant one.  However, there still seems to be a correlation between the presence on the red chips with the blue chips.  Running a correlation analysis on the data showed that there was a  correlation of 0.665 between the two species indicating a fairly strong relationship between the occurance of the wo species together.
