Bermuda

Scientist believe the hook
shaped island was part of the lip of a now
dormant volcano. The island is an atoll and is
surrounded by coral reefs.

However there
beautiful coral reefs had a darker side, one
which threatened seaman and pirate alike. They were
commonly referred to as the Isle of the Devils.

Named by a Spaniard Juan de Bermudez (hmm name
sounds familiar). In 1609 A British ship was
blown ashore and settlement started.

Now it is known as the
popular tourist destination with beautiful coral
reefs.
