To gather the data for my project, I laid out twenty versitainers and cut some Fucus and Ascophyllum and placed about the same amount of both in the container. On the first trip to Nahant, I placed the algae on either side of the versitainer. After that trip I thought it would be more efficient to mix the plants together. Then I gathered twenty snails, half from Ascophyllum and half from Fucus and placed them in the containers and put the lids on top so they wouldn't escape. I also put numbered sticky tabs on the lids to keep track of where the snails had come from and what algae they had chosen. I did not time the snails, but if they showed no signs of movement after sufficent time had elapsed, I recorded it as no choice. I gathered each sample of twenty snails from a different area to avoid double sampling.
