Nerita versicolor distribution was experimentally altered into three Anadyomene stellata-dominated pools in the upper intertidal of John Smith Bay, Bermuda.  The previously nerite-free pools were populated with 101 individuals each.  The movement of the gastropods was monitored over the next two days.  Salinities and area were measured for each pool and the salinity of the ocean was measured each day. Nerite movement was found to be statistically significant.  Some correlation was found between salinity and nerite retention rate.
