Puyas exude a large amount of nectar and are pollinated by birds.

Puya alpestris - Chile - blue leaves.
Puya raimondii - Peru - 13 foot trunk, 17 foot inflorescence; can get up to forty feet tall (whole plant). Grows at a height of 13,000 feet. Greenish-white leaves form spherical crown, but droop from exhaustion when in bloom.
Puya chilensis - yellow leaves.
