Dyckia grows on rocks and in the South American Desert.
All 80 species bear the basal rosettes of sleder, rigid leaves close to
the ground and equipped with sharp spines on the margin and at the tip.
The tall, slender inflorescence grows on a long scape above the basal leaf rosette.
Some Species:
Dyckia remotiflora - Uraguay - can be grown indoors; yellow flowers.
Dyckia breviflora - Brazil - can be grown indoors; yellow flowers.
Dyckia rubra - wide branching inflorescence; red flowers.
Dyckia altissima - wide branching inflorescence; yellow flowers.
