Application Process
Students participating in the program begin taking graduate level courses during their senior year. These graduate courses provide academic credit toward completion of the bachelor's degree and fulfill some of the course requirements of the graduate degree. Eligible students are admitted into the graduate program of their choice upon receipt of the B.A. degree, and typically, in a fifth year of study complete the course requirements for the master's degree.
Timeline
First or Second Year Undergraduate:
First year: Discuss this with the undergraduate faculty advisor and read through the website.
Sophomore Year: Contact the Accelerated BA/Master's Degree Program advisor.
Junior Year:
Students must complete the Application to the Accelerated BA/Master's Degree: Part 1 and return it to the ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTER by April 1 of the junior year (November 1 for those who are out of sequence). The application form is available on-line at www.clarku.edu/graduate.
This application is necessary to retain eligibility for tuition scholarship, but does not commit a student to completing the master's program.
While a student can submit the form while studying abroad, he/she must receive advising from the graduate program he/she plans to apply to and have the form signed by the program advisor in order to have the application accepted by the Academic Advising Office.
Senior Year
Students must formally apply to the graduate program indicated on the Application to the Accelerated BA/Master's Degree Program: Part 1. This includes the Application to the Accelerated BA/Master's Degree Program: Part 2, letters of recommendation, and an unofficial transcript from Clark. See www.clarku.edu/graduate for application materials and deadline. NOTE: The deadline to apply formally to the MBA and MSF programs is April 15 of the junior year; most other programs have a deadline of October 15 of the senior year.
When do I hear about my application?
The ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTER determines eligibility for the Accelerated BA/Master's Degree Program and will inform you by letter at the end of your junior year, and again at the end of your senior year, whether you have retained eligibility for the tuition scholarship. Acceptance into the graduate program is provisional until the end of the senior year and is determined by the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research based on the recommendation of the master's program.
Students studying abroad are encouraged to complete their coursework requirements including submission of final paper to their Clark faculty sponsor as early as possible to avoid delays in receiving information about eligibility.
