Apply to the Ph.D. Program
(Note: Information on this page pertains only to the Ph.D. program in BCMB. Clark undergraduates interested in the Accelerated B.A./Master's program should consult the Accelerated program pages. Students interested in the Biology or Chemistry Ph.D. programs should contact those departments directly.)

The deadline for these applications is February 15. Recommendations and transcripts must be sent by mail. Applications will be reviewed by all BCMB faculty; offers of admission will be made by the Director of the BCMB program. The home department (Chemistry or Biology) will be that of the faculty mentor.
Applications are generally accepted for matriculation in August. Students wishing to matriculate in January should contact the Director of BCMB. Applications should generally be submitted six months before the proposed entry date.
Applicants must provide the following:
- Completed application form
Application form may be requested by standard mail, email email@example.com or downloaded here.
- Statement of purpose
In your statement, please indicate your reasons for undertaking graduate study, research interest and the faculty member whose research is of interest to you.
- Official transcripts
Transcripts should be sent from all prior post-secondary schools attended. Transcripts must be in a sealed envelope with official college/university stamp across the seal.
- Three recommendation letters
Letter's must be from the referees listed in the application. The three submissions must be from academic persons competent to judge applicant's qualifications for graduate studies.
Recommendations must be in a sealed envelope with the referee's signature clearly signed on the back of the seal.

- GRE scores
Score's must be sent directly from ETS (school code: 3279; dept. code: 0301).
Please note that the subject area exam is not required, but is recommended.
GRE scores in the 50th percentile or higher are desirable.
- Official TOEFL/IELTS Test Scores (for non-native English speakers)
TOEFL scores should be sent directly from ETS (school code: 3279; Dept. Code: 0202)
Acceptable scores requirements are as follows:
iBT (Internet-Based Test)—Minimum Scores: Reading 15; Speaking 16; Listening 16; Writing 17; with a Total Score of at least 78.
PBT (Paper-Based Test)—Minimum total score 620
CBT (Computer-Based Test)—Minimum total score 260
IELTS minimum band score: 6.5
- Application fee
The fee is $60.00 made out to Clark University. The fee can be paid with a personal check, bank check or money order.
