How to get started
There are a couple of ways to learn more about available volunteer opportunities in the Worcester community. The best way to meet community partners is to attend the Community Engagement and Internship Fair each September. But if you miss that event, here is what you should do.
Visit our office
The CEV Center has drop-in hours Monday-Thursday from 2-4:00 p.m. You can stop by and talk to one of the staff members about finding an appropriate placement that fits your interests and schedule. If you cannot visit during one of those times, e-mail or call 508-421-3785 to schedule an appointment.
Get info online
- The CEV Center uses the Clark Recruiter, an online database of community organizations that lists jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities. Start browsing opportunities online then come to the CEV Center to review your options with a staff member.
- If you're a bit overwhelmed by the search capabilities of the Clark Recruiter, you can fill out this Community Service Interest Form and depending on your area of interest, a staff member from the CEV Center will be in touch with you. All forms are sent to the CEV Center email account.
- The CEV Center has a weekly e-newsletter of upcoming community service opportunities and community events. To subscribe, please send an e-mail from your Clark email account to firstname.lastname@example.org with CEV NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBE in the subject line.
What about forms or applications?
There is no required form to complete to do community service. The only form that you might fill out for the CEV Center is the Community Service Interest Form to help us find an appropriate placement for you.
However, many of the community organizations require an application and a CORI background check before you can start as a volunteer. Those will be provided for you by the organization contact or Community Fellow and must be returned to the community organization, not the CEV Center.
