Honorary Degree Recipient
Lois B. Green MPA ’78 serves as an independent consultant for a number of central Massachusetts nonprofit organizations and is a member of the University of Massachusetts Medical School Faculty, serving as the Director of Geriatric Community Clerkship.
She is on the boards of the Fallon Clinic Foundation, Bet Shalom Housing for the Elderly (which she helped found), the Central Massachusetts Partnership to Improve Care at the End of Life, the Worcester Regional Research Bureau and is a trustee for the Hoche Scofield Foundation.
Green served from 1985 to 1991 as executive director of Elder Home Care Services of Worcester Area, Inc., and from June 2005 to March 2006 as interim president and CEO of United Way of Central Massachusetts (UWCM), where she was also the first woman campaign chair. She is a founding member of UWCM’s Women’s Initiative, which champions the needs of young girls.
Green has received numerous awards for her service to the community, including the Worcester Jewish Federation “Servant of My People” Award, The National Conference of Christians and Jews Brotherhood Award and the Isaiah Thomas Award for Distinguished Community Service. In addition, she has been awarded a Doctorate in Humane Letters from both Becker College and University of Massachusetts Medical School.
A graduate of the Masters in Public Administration program at Clark and former vice chairman of Clark’s Board of Trustees, Green serves as a model of community engagement for Clark students. She and her husband Robert ’49 established the Lois M.P.A. '78 and Robert '49 Green Endowed Undergraduate Internship Fund to support undergraduate student internships in the city of Worcester.
For her service to the University she was honored with the Alumni Association’s Distinguished Service Award. Green, who earned a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College, will receive the Doctor of Humane Letters degree.
