Louis Cote, a former all-conference runner at crosstown rival Worcester State, enters his first season as the head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country programs at Clark University in 2009.
Already familiar with the Cougar running programs, Cote spent both the 2007 and 2008 seasons as an assistant coach.
Prior to his arrival at Clark, Cote spent the previous five years as an assistant at two Worcester areas high schools developing both distance runners and sprinters. From 2002-06, he served as a volunteer assistant at South High and held an assistant coach position at Saint Peter Marian from 2004-06.
As a collegian, Cote starred for the Lancers, claiming the MASCAC Indoor 1,500 meter title as a senior as well as the conference title in the 10,000 meters in his junior campaign. He was a runner-up in at the conference cross country championships in 2002 and qualified for the New England Championships on three occasions in the 10,000 meters.
Cote is a 2006 graduate of Worcester State with a degree in English literature and a minor in secondary education.
