NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. 09/16/06 The Clark University mens and womens cross country teams faired well in the 34th annual UMass-Dartmouth Invitational in North Dartmouth, Mass. on Saturday.
The men placed 26th out of the 29-team field, while the women finished 22nd of 33 teams.
Running in his first cross-country race, Caleb Evanter (Marblehead, Mass.) paced the Cougar men with a time of 29:22 (120th). Other top finishers for Clark included, Thomas McCarthy (Scarborough, Me.) (136th/30:01), Daniel Roberts (Portland, Me.) (146th/30:32), Corey Leonard (Arlington, Mass.) (167th/32:25) and Devon Saliga (Marlborough, Mass.) (168th/32:27).
Trinity College won the mens field with 62 points.
The Clark women were led by Kaitlyn Sephton (Shutesbury, Mass.) (104th/21:33). Ellen Durand (Billerica, Mass.) was the second Cougar to cross the finish line with a time of 22:16 (115th), followed by Liz Gomez (Hingham, Mass.) (144th/23:11), Amanda Haimes (Atlanta, Ga.) (151st/23:27), and Allison Camp (Walla Walla, Wash.) (166th/23:51).
Amherst College topped the womens field.
Clark will race in the Worcester City Invitational held at Institute Park next Saturday.
