Volleyball Concludes 2007 Campaign with Loss to Springfield College
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - October 27, 2007 Clark University closed out its 2007 season with a 3-0 loss to Springfield College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) womens volleyball action on Saturday in Blake Arena. Springfield won by the scores of 30-14, 30-15, 30-24.
With the victory, the Pride improve to 22-9, 7-2 in conference play while Clark wraps up the regular season with a 6-18 overall mark and 1-8 record in league play.
Senior Sarah Hunsucker (Orinda, Cali.) paced Clark with 14 kills and 13 digs. Sophomores Brittany Meadows (Los Angeles, Cali.) and Emily Visone (West Hempstead, N.Y.) added 19 and 15 digs, respectively.
Leading the way for Springfield in the match was Aylene Ilkson (Baldwin, N.Y.) who continued her outstanding play as of late. The junior outside hitter recorded 18 kills ,with 11 digs and three service aces.
Sarah Lang-Rodean (Mansfield Center, Conn.) added 11 kills and a pair of solo blocks while Heidi Yohe (Deer Park, Wash.) chipped in with 17 digs and nine kills. Lindsay Marone (Hamden, Conn.) finished with seven kills and eight digs while Alyssa Muething (Plainsboro, N.J.) chipped in with six digs and three aces.
The Pride, seeded third, will host sixth seed Wheaton College in a NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinal round game on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
