Women's Volleyball Falls to Coast Guard
NEW LONDON, CONN.-- Clark University dropped three games to Coast Guard Academy on Senior Night in New England Womens and Mens Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) womens volleyball action on Tuesday. Game scores were 30-15, 30-15, 30-10.
Junior Nicole Gurr had 14 kills and three aces while senior Corinne McCormack had 12 kills and five aces to lead Coast Guard. The three Coast Guard seniors, McCormack, Anne Staley and Megan Durbin playing their final regular season home game, won their 100th match with the win giving the class a four-year record of 100-15 for a tremendous .870 winning percentage.
Winners of sixth straight, Coast Guard (20-4, 6-2) clinched a first round home game in the upcoming NEWMAC tournament with the win. They will host a first round game on Tuesday, Oct. 30th.
Staley had 39 assists and five aces while sophomore Carin Sweeney added eight kills for the Bears.
Senior Sarah Hunsucker led Clark (6-17, 1-7) with six kills to go with eight digs while sophomore Emily Visone had 10 digs for the Cougars.
Clark will play its final regular season game at Springfield College on Saturday (1 p.m.).
